Chaweng beach

Chaweng is the most popular place in Koh Samui : there you will find more than 40% of the hotel offerings of the island. Add to it the restaurants, diving and snorkeling clubs, jet sky rentals, etc… and you will have the more touristy and busiest place of Koh Samui.

As the most unmissable spot of the island, Chaweng is essentially attracting tourists. If you are one yourself, you may want to book an hotel in the area. However as an expat, you may look for a calmer spot.

Lamai beach

It is 4 km long and the second best known beach of Koh Samui. Wilder and calmer than Chaweng, Lamai is nice for families and houses a lot of expats. Some of them own hotels and restaurants, allowing for easy socializing among international residents.

Therefore, Lamai is a nice place for expatriates or holiday-makers travelling with families: the beach is more privy but still popular and close to activities.

Choeng Mon beach

Choeng Mon is a small, lesser known beach. It is a good compromise between calmness and animation, as it is only 3 km from Chaweng. Choeng Mon includes Koh Samui condos for sale which are among the most affordable of the market. It allows for a very comfortable living in Koh Samui between 3 000 000 THB and 6 000 000 THB (100 000 to 200 000 USD).

Bophut area

Bophut beach is smaller than the other beaches of Koh Samui, but the overall area is much more authentic. As in Lamai, there are quite a lot of expats. One can find the Fisherman’s village with picturesque wood houses, used as beach restaurants.

Bophut has some of the best located villas in Koh Samui. Thanks to the mountainous landscape, they are built of the heights, with impressing panoramic views of the sea and of Koh Phangan island. Providing that you have the money, it is there that you will fond the most beautiful villas of Koh Samui.
